For scenery, Norway is one of the most incredible places to visit. The mountains and fjords all up the West Coast provide breathtaking views and, coupled with the potential to see the Aurora Borealis in the north, makes the country one of my favourite to visit.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have had a few trips to Norway. My first visit took in the route from Fredrikstad to Oslo and then the fantastic long train ride to Bergen via Myrdal. The second visit was part of a longer trip around Europe and ended in the Arctic Circle, visiting Narvik and Tromsø.
Due to how the trip to Tromsø ended the first time around, I revisited a little later. This was during the polar night, taking in Kiruna in Sweden before heading north back to Narvik and Tromsø. This time it was for some incredible scenery and many nights of spectacular Northern Lights.
Most recently, I visited Åndalsnes and Ålesund. The weather was perfect and, with the time of year I visited, meant snow-capped mountains with beautiful blue sky. Perfect.
This video brings together some parts of the more recent trips. It’s one of my favourite clips I’ve made, purely down to the scenery around Åndalsnes and the Geirangerfjord. Taking videos during the polar night in Tromsø was trickier but some of them came out okay, and it’s the first time I’ve managed to take any kind of video of the Northern Lights.
