Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent – Uzbekistan

In 2017 I had a trip which took me from the blistering heat of the desert town of Bukhara in Uzbekistan, all the way to the Astana in the north of Kazakhstan. The 30-something heat of Bukhara turned into the wind-chilled -5C of the Kazakh capital in the space of just a couple of weeks.

It was at trip which took me back on to the long, overnight train journeys that I absolutely love, and which ranged from fascinating cities to some of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen.

This video shows a bit of Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent, and also the wonderful Chatkal mountain range near the Uzbekistan/Kyrgyzstan border.
